So what is Poynton & District Round Table all about? There are many great reasons to come along and find out more about Poynton & District Round Table:
It's great fun, we do a lot of social activities from sporting to beer drinking and everything in-between!
You get to meet people and make friends with people from Poynton, Bramhall, Bollington, Hazel Grove, Disley, Stockport, South Manchester, and the local area.
We usually meet up fortnightly on the 1st, 3rd, and (occasionally 5th) Tuesday of the month.
Poynton Round Table is a social bunch of 18-45 year old lads (currently about 20 members) who meet twice (sometimes three times) a month to do stuff you wouldn’t normally do, such as Indoor Skydiving, Flight Simulator, Fencing, Kayaking, Karting, etc, and sometimes things you might normally do, such as go to the Pub, Meals out, Mountain Biking, etc.
If you fancy a bit of time out from your busy life, Poynton Round Table is a great way to get away from it. We also put a bit back into the Community through the organising and running of the annual Poynton Bonfire and Christmas Santa Float. See some of our donations and hopefully you'll agree it's not bad for a bunch of lads from the pub! Also take a look at our Facebook page to see what we’ve been up to recently and what we’ve got coming up for lads’ nights out and social events. If you want to find out more, drop us an email to give is a free go and potentially get involved!
The members of Round Table come from all walks of life and join for a variety of reasons - perhaps as to getaway from the stress of a busy life, or as a way of participating in the local community, or just for the laughs and fun. It is, of course, an ideal way for those who have moved into a new area to find new friends of a similar age.
How do I become a member? Contact us or someone in Poynton Round Table (if you already know someone), and come along to a few events for FREE as a guest. If you enjoy it and think it is for you then hopefully you will join. There are no barriers to joining regarding one's political, religious, occupational or marital status and the only qualification is to be male, over 18 and under 45. There is no induction ceremony or funny handshakes (that's the Masons!).
What about the costs and commitment involved? All members of Poynton Round Table pay a monthly subscription, this subscription is used solely for our twice a month social events. These event range from Meals to Go-Karting, Comedy Nights, Beer Festivals, Rafting, Gliding etc. We understand that not everyone will be able to make every event due to personal and work commitments, so Poynton Round Table uses an apology system. This way if you are unable to attend an event you will not have to pay, and will get your money back for that event, so you don't lose financially. As with any hobby the more you put in, the more you get out.
What if I move to another part of the country? This is where being a member of Round Table really pays off. If you move elsewhere there will be a Round Table Club close by. Once a member of Round Table always a member. If you find yourself in an unfamiliar village, town, city or country then there will be a group of friends waiting to welcome you... all you have to do is phone them and say that you've moved in. You then simply transfer from your old Round Table membership to the new one. If you travel on business and find yourself staying in various parts of the country, again all Round Tables welcome guests from other tables, this way you can quickly get used to the local area and gives other Rounds Tables an opportunity to share ideas.
