Our Programme of Activities Through the Years

If you think Poynton Round Table is just about the odd pint at the pub, think again. Behind the scenes, it’s a packed calendar of events, challenges, socials, and community efforts that keep the group ticking all year round and ultimately help raise thousands for local causes.

Take the past couple of years as an example. In 2023 and into 2024, the diary has been as busy as ever. From footgolf at Adlington and axe throwing nights, to climbing walls, escape rooms, and go-karting, there’s no shortage of ways for members to get involved (and probably get a bit competitive along the way). There’s a strong mix of socials too: comedy nights, film festivals, gin distillery tours, and of course the all-important curry nights.

But it’s not all just for fun. Key events like the Bonfire Weekend and Poynton Christmas Fest remain at the heart of what the Round Table does, bringing the community together while raising vital funds. And after the hard work? Traditions like the Santa Rounds curry or post-event debriefs offer a chance to unwind and reflect.

Looking back further, it’s clear this energy hasn’t changed. Whether it was paddleboarding and beer festivals in 2022, navigating the challenges of COVID-19 with virtual events in 2020–2021, or packing calendars with everything from paintballing to mountain biking in earlier years, the spirit has always been the same: get involved, try something new, and have a good time doing it.

It all feeds into the bigger picture; raising money, supporting local causes, and building a strong sense of community along the way.
