Santa is coming to Poynton
Every December, Santa comes to Poynton and it’s all thanks to the volunteers of Poynton Round Table.

Fundraising is at the very heart of what we do. The money we raise goes directly back into supporting local good causes, individuals, and community projects, making a real and lasting difference in Poynton and the surrounding area.
All of the funds we raise through the hard work of our volunteers and generosity of the local community are donated to a wide variety of causes including; Charities, Youth Groups, School PTA’s, Social Enterprises and Organisations.
Santa Routes around Poynton
Unfortunately, Santa can’t visit every single road. To make sure the rounds finish in time for children’s bedtimes, we operate specific routes with designated stops across Poynton.
Dates
Full route details and dates will be published each December, so please keep an eye on this page and our social media for updates.
Schedule
The village will be split into daily routes with pre-determined safe stopping locations.
Routes will be announced via social media 2 weeks before rounds begin and reminders will be sent each day.
- Weekdays: Santa aims to start at around 6:00pm
- Weekends: Santa usually starts earlier, around 4:15pm
Routes run in the early evening so younger children can enjoy seeing Santa before bedtime.
While Santa chats with the kids and checks his list (twice!), members of Poynton Round Table collect donations from the incredibly generous people of Poynton.
Every penny raised is donated to local charities, community groups, and good causes.
Santa Sleigh FAQs
Who runs the Poynton Santa Sleigh?
The Santa Sleigh is run entirely by members of Poynton Round Table. Every December, volunteers give up their evenings to organise routes, drive the sleigh, collect donations, and make sure Santa’s visit is safe, festive, and fun for everyone.
Why can’t Santa appear earlier or later?
Poynton Round Table is run entirely by volunteers, all of whom have full-time jobs and families. This means weekday starts earlier than 6pm just aren’t possible.
The sleigh also works best in the dark, and the Santa Rounds are designed with younger children in mind, so we don’t want to delay their bedtime.
Will Santa still come out if the weather is bad?
Santa will always try to get out, whatever the weather, even if it means he and his elves get a bit wet!
We never miss a year entirely, but in exceptional circumstances Santa may have to stay in the workshop if it’s unsafe due to: Ice, heavy snow, heavy rainfall or flooding.
If a route has to be cancelled, we’ll share updates via our social media channels and will always try our best to return to that route another day where possible.
Do I have to pay?
No payment is required, we only ask that you make a donation if you can, we have cash collectors and contactless machines for donations which contribute to our annual charitable trust.
