Poynton Community First Responders, part of North West Ambulance Service, are professionally trained volunteers who give as much of their spare time as they can to provide a vital service to the local community. They form a first line of defence in dealing with 999 calls, providing essential care and treatment to casualties in the vital minutes before a regional ambulance arrives, however they are not funded by Government but have to raise their own funds to operate. Poynton and District Round Table (PDRT) directly support the First Responders through funding the running costs of their ambulance i.e. fuel, insurance, and road fund licence, on an ongoing basis. PDRT are delighted to be able to support such a valuable local cause allowing the volunteers to concentrate on what they do best, saving people’s lives, rather than worrying continually about how to raise funds to continue their essential work. PDRT raise a significant amount for distribution to local good causes through the generosity of the people of Poynton at the Poynton Bonfire and on the Santa Float: the First Responders are a good example of where the money goes. If you know of any local worthy groups, individuals, or projects that need specific assistance, please get in touch (www.poyntonroundtable.co.uk). Community work is only a small fraction of what PDRT get up to; if you’re an active guy under 45 and fancy finding more about who and what PDRT are, check out our website or give Karl a call anytime (871146).
